Q: If my student does not participate in graduation, will they still receive their diploma?
A: Yes. All students eligible for graduation will receive their diploma regardless of if they participate in graduation exercises or not. Students that do not participate in graduation will receive their diploma at the school office AFTER graduation. Information will be sent out later.
Q: How will my student’s name be printed on the diploma?
A: The legal name that is on record with the school data clerk will be the name that is printed on the diploma.
Q: How many tickets will my student receive?
A: This varies from year to year based on Ameris Amphitheater policy. Please keep track of your email for information regarding the number of allotted tickets. The number of tickets given is on a per student basis. In other words, if you have two graduates, each graduate will receive the allotted number of tickets.
Q: Can I buy extra tickets if I need more than the allotted amount?
A: Unfortunately, no. Please reach out to other graduates and parents in the community if you need extra tickets. Please DO NOT email the graduation sponsors, administration, or counselors asking for extra tickets.
Q: When will my student receive their graduation tickets?
A: Graduation tickets are given out at the conclusion of the mandatory graduation rehearsal. Students MUST have all fines and fees paid, FCS device returned, and completed their Senior Exit Survey found in Naviance to receive their tickets that day.
Q: Who qualifies as an FCS Honor Graduate?
A: Graduates who have achieved a cumulative average of 88 or above are recognized at the graduation ceremony as Fulton County Honor Graduates; this is a system policy, not local. Rounding up is not used in computing the average (i.e. a student with an 87.95 would not qualify). The honor graduate list is established at the end of the first semester of the senior year.
Q: My student is an FCS Honor graduate and ordered the gold honor cord. Who do they pick that up from?
A: FCS Honor graduate cords will be available on cap and gown pick-up day so long as the student has paid for them.
Q: My student is part of an honor society or club. Who do they order and pick-up their cord/stole from?
A: Stoles and sashes that are from recognized HONOR SOCIETIES and CLUBS can be ordered and picked up from the respective sponsors.
Q: I have questions related to graduation expectations, parking, ADA accommodations, etc. Who do I talk to?
A: There will be an email that comes out in May from the school principal that has all the details regarding this. Please keep an eye out for that email.
Q: I have a senior graduating in December. What should I do?
A: While counselors will provide you with all information related to this, please contact Alli Gonding (GondingA@fultonschools.org) to provide her with parent and student contact information so she can keep you updated on all spring and graduation information.
