Each meeting of the School Governance Council typically generates three public documents: an agenda; a brief summary of action items that occurred during the meeting; and a detailed set of meeting minutes. We will display these documents on our website for the current school year, along with those from the previous year. ● Use what we had in place last year bc they are changing how we are doing our strategic goals. We will look at the data at our next meeting
● Need better metrics

● Redoing 10 day count - these are the numbers as of yesterday
○ Projected enrollment was 1952
○ Actual enrollment is 1943
○ Means we would lose .5 teacher
○ Keeping 7th counselor
○ Reality is that if student is not in the building we cannot count them even though we know they are going to be here at some point
○ Current online bill is $420k, we budgeted $324k
○ Without a major change we should be fine
○ North Springs and Northview are now tuition schools; we are still not a COSA school
○ SGC funds will be about $30k
○ No senior exemption this year - so more online students
○ Keep pushing for performing arts magnet status - county did not approve last year because of budget issues

Start of the year going well, fully staffed, looking at 10 day count, need actual enrollment - 1998 on first day, 1976 was projected, some no shows - 48 students - figuring out where they are - can’t mark them as here till they show up - will have 10-15 new enrollments by Labor Day as usual, planned on adding 6th periods to certain teachers loads, if we lose a position we will have to take away the .2s and take the money from supplies

Special Ed numbers - more students in resource and self-contained than was originally projected, can impact our special ed numbers, chance of losing a special ed teacher

If we drop below 1950 we could lose counseling position

Milton not available for school choice bc of capacity above 95% - every other local school was - 20 emails from parents who want kids to go to Milton but they can’t - 2-3 year projected enrollment - 1927, 1990 in FY2025, 1913, 1972 for FY2024, 23 under in FY2023, 48 over in FY2022, under before then

Put in an application to be a magnet school for visual and performing arts - if approved you get 3 teaching positions and a school coordinator position - then he can add staff to core positions - doesn’t mean that you have to accept kids from outside Milton, means that you meet a national standard

Dr. Looney was here yesterday - met with seniors yesterday - 2 cell phones

89% pass rate in 2200 AP Exams, if we pull virtual students out the pass rate is higher

Start of the year going well, fully staffed, looking at 10 day count, need actual enrollment - 1998 on first day, 1976 was projected, some no shows - 48 students - figuring out where they are - can’t mark them as here till they show up - will have 10-15 new enrollments by Labor Day as usual, planned on adding 6th periods to certain teachers loads, if we lose a position we will have to take away the .2s and take the money from supplies

Special Ed numbers - more students in resource and self-contained than was originally projected, can impact our special ed numbers, chance of losing a special ed teacher

If we drop below 1950 we could lose counseling position

Milton not available for school choice bc of capacity above 95% - every other local school was - 20 emails from parents who want kids to go to Milton but they can’t - 2-3 year projected enrollment - 1927, 1990 in FY2025, 1913, 1972 for FY2024, 23 under in FY2023, 48 over in FY2022, under before then

Put in an application to be a magnet school for visual and performing arts - if approved you get 3 teaching positions and a school coordinator position - then he can add staff to core positions - doesn’t mean that you have to accept kids from outside Milton, means that you meet a national standard

● Halls were quiet on first day of school, which is a good sign
● A/B schedule has been altered to structure advisement differently. It is built into 2nd period Tues, Wed, Thur with longer periods on Mon & Fri
● C schedule allows for a homeroom to be run
● Student Success Skills for advisement are individualized and can be accessed on their devices
● Projected enrollment was 1927 - 2012 as of Monday - usually get between 40-60 no shows, sitting at 1967 - we are not going to lose anything except for special ed where we are 20 students fewer than last year
● Fully staffed - parapro position open in ESOL bc parapro went to FT Spanish teacher
● Former principal Ron Tesch passed away unexpectedly- lean on PTO to send flowers - Cliff Jones putting together a memorial service 8/18 3pm -

● Halls were quiet on first day of school, which is a good sign
● A/B schedule has been altered to structure advisement differently. It is built into 2nd period Tues, Wed, Thur with longer periods on Mon & Fri
● C schedule allows for a homeroom to be run
● Student Success Skills for advisement are individualized and can be accessed on their devices
● Projected enrollment was 1927 - 2012 as of Monday - usually get between 40-60 no shows, sitting at 1967 - we are not going to lose anything except for special ed where we are 20 students fewer than last year
● Fully staffed - parapro position open in ESOL bc parapro went to FT Spanish teacher
● Former principal Ron Tesch passed away unexpectedly- lean on PTO to send flowers - Cliff Jones putting together a memorial service 8/18 3pm -

Looking at formulas that are used to calculate positions and how certain programs are funded and populated to help with a shortfall - revamp coming

The board won’t raise the millage rate

The student population is declining

Budget process starts in December with a projected enrollment - 1,976

Brian has been tracking projected vs actual enrollment since 2018 to have an idea of what might happen at the 10-day count - special education projections have been off historically but should not be an issue this coming year

Moving from 8 to 6.4 TAG teachers but it will be funded with instructional reserve and hope is that moving forward we earn more TAG teachers

MHS not eligible for grants or additional funding streams

Career Tech moving from 6 to 5 teachers, but 6th teacher will be funded through instructional reserve

Counselor allocations have changed - we have always converted graduation coach position to a counselor position, but this coming year there are no longer grad coach positions and they are redoing the formula so next year we will move from 6 to 7 - this is an area we should be concerned about for 10-day count bc that position could be lost if we are under 1,950

Amount earned and Total used has to be the same with a difference of $0

MHS funding an additional instructional paraprofessional to support career tech for special education

Only need 3 of 4 allocated professional assistants

Add another campus security associate
